An Elegant Piazza Messina Wedding | Jillian & David

On March 23rd, 2025, I had the honor of photographing Jillian and David’s stunning wedding at Piazza Messina in Cottleville, Missouri. This venue is known for its elegant indoor/outdoor spaces and lakeside charm but on their wedding day, it felt especially magical.
Jillian and David chose Piazza Messina for its beautiful indoor/outdoor flexibility, exceptional staff, and the convenience of having everything handled in one place. From catering to setup. With unpredictable spring weather, this venue offered the perfect balance of beauty and peace of mind.
Getting Ready on the Grounds of Piazza Messina
Both Jillian and David got ready right on-site, surrounded by serene landscape and soft morning light. The bridal suite buzzed with excitement as Jillian slipped into her gown from White Traditions, while Hannah Change Beauty worked her magic with hair and makeup.
There’s something special about getting ready at the same place you’ll say “I do.” It creates a sense of ease, calmness, and continuity and for Jillian and David, that meant every moment flowed naturally and beautifully.
A Sweet and Emotional First Look
Before the ceremony, Jillian and David shared a first look that had everyone in tears…including me behind the camera. As David turned around and saw his bride, the emotion hit instantly. It was quiet, sincere, and full of love; the kind of moment that reminds you exactly why first looks can be so meaningful.
These early minutes alone gave them a chance to breathe, hold each other, and soak in everything the day represented.
A Religious Ceremony Filled with Family & Faith
Their ceremony was held inside Piazza Messina. A perfect choice for their early-spring date. The light was soft, the space felt intimate, and every detail was rooted in the couple’s faith.
The most meaningful part?
The groom’s father officiated the ceremony, making their vows feel deeply personal and heartfelt.
While there were no unity rituals, the couple incorporated something truly special:
David’s cousin led the guests in singing a hymn, offering a moment of worship that filled the room with warmth.
It was simple. Sacred. Beautifully authentic to their relationship.
Portraits Around the Piazza
After the ceremony, we explored the grounds; the lake, stone walkways, and perfectly manicured landscaping made it incredibly easy to capture timeless portraits. Spring colors were just beginning to emerge, giving everything a fresh glow.
Piazza Messina truly shines in every season, but on this March afternoon, it felt particularly peaceful and romantic.
