Despite the rain (which came down all day long), these two embraced every moment with joy, calm, and the kind of love that makes photographing a wedding feel like the biggest privilege.

From the very beginning, Megan and Chris leaned into the natural beauty of their venue; a secluded lodge surrounded by woods, water, and the peaceful calm that immediately feels like home.

Megan shared that choosing their wedding venue was easy:

“Chris and I really love camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors. We really loved the seclusion of the venue and the big lake.”

A Sentimental Morning & A Tender First Look

One of the sweetest parts of their day was the focus on family memories. Megan’s mom had just one request; plenty of family photos, especially with extended family for keepsakes. And we made sure her wish came true!

Before guests arrived, Megan and Chris planned a first look somewhere on the property. While rain changed our original plan, it didn’t stop the moment from unfolding beautifully. Surrounded by umbrellas, fall colors, and soft mist rising off the lake, the two shared an emotional and intimate first look that perfectly set the tone for the rest of the day.

Rain on the Wedding Day… And It Was Still Magical

Rain is something no couple hopes for, but it brought out something incredible for Megan & Chris.

The wooded backdrop glistened. The lake looked peaceful and cinematic. Every doorway, porch, and covered space around the venue turned into a photo opportunity. Their smiles never faded and honestly, rainy wedding days often make for the most romantic images.

Their ceremony was heartfelt, cozy, and filled with laughter, surrounded by friends and family who were all just so excited to celebrate these two.

Inside the lodge, the reception was a warm escape from the rain, filled with:

Small DIY details gave everything a personal touch, including favors and paper goods Megan and Chris created themselves.

Megan looked stunning in her gown from Boulevard Bride, paired with Amazon shoes, timeless jewelry, and pieces meaningful to their families. Her ring had been passed down through Chris’s family; one of those heirlooms that carries so much love in its story.

Her bridesmaids wore dresses from Azazie or Birdy Grey, creating a cohesive and elegant look.
